BSN or Masters Degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Business Administration required. Current nursing license in the state of New Mexico required. Requires a minimum of three (3) years recent acute care experience. Five years demonstrated Nursing Management in a fast paced, complex environment; Trans-disciplinary approach to clinical improvement; Fiscal Management of Department operations; Managed Care concepts and strategies; DRG reimbursement system knowledge; Capable of converting DRG and Physician Practice pattern data into information which quantifies impact on cost and quality; Ability to implement new programs and problem-solving mechanisms; Good communication/analytical/writing skills; Excellent knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and Third Part admission and concurrent review criteria; Knowledge of “benchmarking” and “best practice” methodologies; Ability to implement and initiate workload changes and set priorities accordingly; Case Management/Practice Guideline concepts and application methodology – trending, analyzing and reporting variance data; effective Human Resource and Change Management skills. Knowledge of basic computer skills, team facilitation and hospital operations are required.

Job Description:

Designs, implements and evaluates clinical systems for reducing and/or controlling length of stay, costs and/or resource consumption ensuring maintenance or improvements in patient outcomes. The director of Case Management is a substantially complex position that is responsible and accountable for clinical and financial operations of a Case Management system. The Director provides hospital-wide leadership through effective managerial and educational direction in the areas of Resource Management, timely movement of patients through a continuum, DRG Financial Analysis, Change Management, Managed Care, Guidelines/Protocols and Systems Improvement. Independent action is required to ensure an integrated process, which will coordinate health care delivery across service lines. Supervises the tasks of Case Management, evaluates impact on the organization and develops strategies to achieve short and long range goals for cost-effective, quality care. Frequent interface with Senior Management, medical staff, ancillary services and nursing in a communications and change management capacity. The Director of Case Management is accountable for the ongoing operations and direct impact of the Case Management system as it relates to cost and quality.
